Martin Luther King Jr was an incredible man that was very brave courageous and stood up for what he believed in In the speech at the Dexter Avenue Baptist Church in Montgomery Alabama he wrote An individual has not begun to live until he can rise above the narrow horizons of his particular individualistic concerns to the broader concerns of all humanity This means that many people never quite get to the point of rising above themselves so they end up the tragic victims of self-centeredness Self-centeredness is a huge problem in the world today The question that Dr King left us in his speech was What can you do to rise above yourself for your friends family and community How you can rise above yourself is to do things that your family has never done in their lifetime Maybe graduating high-school getting a job or not doing drugs may be something that all of their family does but they dont want to do These are all perfect examples of rising above yourself and creating a better life An example of rising above yourself could be graduating high-school where you live is a poor neighborhood where no one ever graduates high-school but just gets a job to earn money for their family Another thing that someone may want to change is getting a job may be hard Because some people may not be friendly and they dont have a good personality to be a server manager or an employee and those people have to change so they can do what they want to do and not end up like their family Their family may have just have people who havent graduated high-school do drugs and are broke but they dont want to be like that so they change and have a better life for themselvesThere are many things people can do in their lifetime to change what has never been done in their familys
