Imagine walking down the street you pass a park with a few children playing and running around Still looking around you see a fairly large child sitting all alone on a bench eating a cheeseburger from McDonalds and a large fry A few years later you walk past the same park You do not see any children playing or running around rather you see several fairly large children sitting on the bench where that one child once sat These children are shoving their faces with food from several different fast food restaurants You start to wonder what has caused these changes to happen and why society does not do anything to change this problemThe rates of childhood obesity are growing rapidly Children are developing serious diseases and dangerous health conditions Parents need to care about and watch what their children are eating Parents also need to make sure that children are being active Obesity is a problem that starts at an early age which can be caused by a lack of exercise poor dietary choices and fast foods being cheap and convenient to buyThere are more and more studies being done on obesity specifically childhood obesity Some studies state that obesity starts early possibly during pregnancy Wayne State University in Detroit researched and found out that almost one-third of 9-month olds are now obese or overweight as are 34 percent of 2 year-olds Pappas 1 Studies also show that children who are heavier at a young age will continue to gain weight and will most likely end up overweight or obese This is a problem because overweight and obese children are more at risk for developing dangerous health conditions such as diabetes high blood pressure or even cancer overweight children are also more prone to having low self-esteem Weir 1Research proves that pregnant women can reduce the chances of their children becoming overweight or obese Weir 1 One thing that mothers can do
