A monster can be defined as any being that commits terrible crimesagainst others and is greatly feared When people think about monstersthey often imagine Frankenstein Dracula or any other fictionalmonster but many other real people fit this description as well Forinstance Muammar Gaddafi the former dictator of Libya had murdered manypeople in a bloody civil war he conducted in order to keep power Thisdictator can be considered a monster due to his inhuman war crimesagainst innocent people however some people regard him as a hero forhis noble actions Gaddafi in his later life was known for his extremely wealthy lifestyle but he was actually was born to an improvised family He was borninto a small Bedouin tribe and his family consisted mostly of uneducatedheaders Despite this harsh reality Gaddafi managed to attend a localschool and even graduated earlier than most of his peers While heattended school he had access to various media outlets which allowed himto witness major events at the time such as the Suez Crisis and theEgyptian Revolution of 1952 He also came to admire many anticolonialism leaders such as Gamal Abdel Nasser After finishing schoolGaddafi furthered his education by attending the University of Libyabut dropped out in favor of joining the military While he was in themilitary Gaddafi used his natural talents gaining the rank of anofficer as well as respect from his peers Gaddafis reign of power had a significant impact on the country ofLibya One of his first actions was to create a new inner circle thatconsisted of people from modest background as opposed to its previousgeneration that consisted of the ruling elite At first Gaddafi wasseen as a benevolent leader but as time progressed he turned into amonstrous dictator In fact many international communities had chargedGaddafi with violation of human rights Gaddafi had brought much wealthto the country but in exchange he demanded loyalty from his subjectsMany civil rights activists that spoke against the Gaddafi regime wereknown to
