On the evening of September twenty-eighth I was partnered with an unfamiliar face We were told to find a spot either inside or outside to get to know each other As my partner and I were exiting out the classroom door I introduced myself and later found out my partners name was Ulisses We walked graciously out of the classroom and turned left to head down the stairs to the outside area We decided to walk a little and make some small talk about the weather We had reached the end of the sidewalk to which came to a curb and the street to where faculty could only park We abruptly sat on the curb and started to further introduce ourselves better I learned that Ulisses is a junior who lives in Danbury Connecticut who commutes to school He works at Fortune Cookie to of which I had never heard of Its a Chinese restaurant While we were continuing our talking I noticed he asked a couple of questions but never acknowledged many questions I asked Every once in a while he would make eye contact with me and at other times he would stare to the ground or the cars that would drive by us The cars either were going to find a parking space in the parking garage or were leaving the garage The cars honked and the tires screeched when the drivers took sharp turns out of the lot This caused some distractions in our conversation Another distraction from our conversation was my roommate I saw her from afar and then she joined us for a couple of minutes So I introduced Ulisses to my roommate and then we discussed how many roommates I have My partner and I had an easy comfort level from the start of us getting partner together till the end of our conversation The spot that we chose was different from our other classmates We were not
