It was inevitable that this day would come But it didnt exactly come in the manner that most college kids would expect I always pictured my mom driving me to college helping me unpack and then we would go our separate ways This was different I was dropping her off instead Here we are over one thousand miles away from everything Ive ever known in the beautiful state of South Carolina filled with the southern hospitality that everyone speaks of I should be one of the happiest kids on earth I got out of New York and the cold weather that comes along with it yet there was still something putting a damper on my mood She was leaving me Leaving me to face challenges and take risks independently with the withstanding thought of possible failure There was no turning back now It was a risk I was willing to take because without the willingness to fail there is no way to succeed Taking this risk would then leave me with no other option than to establish a sense of independence and responsibilityWe had just set out on a short but rather long journey to the Myrtle Beach International Airport It was about six oclock on the evening of freshmen move in day at Coastal Carolina University My mom and I were both completely exhausted It had been one of those non-stop go go go stressful kind of days It was like we were ready for the day to be over but yet we didnt want it to end Throughout the car ride I consistently tried to make small talk or actually just any talk at all to break the silence Nothing either of us said could erase the fact that we knew the time for goodbye was only a few short moments ahead Traffic was thick and the flow was slow which made the car ride seem endless I wanted nothing more than
