Sometimes events that occur in live are better left unplanned I feel like if we plan things and they dont turn out to our expectations We would be set on a path of disappointment and disdain That especially applies for vacation But in this case the story Im about to tell is an ode to the expression Get lost Well I did exactly that a vacation where getting lost never felt so good It was a February morning of 2004 beginning my second year in the Marine Corps I was going into work on a typical Friday morning As I was approached the door to my work building I received a phone call out of the blue It was my at the time girlfriend who decided that she didnt want to be together anymore I felt sort of disappointed but shrugged it off as I went to my desk About two hours into the work day I received another phone call It was my friend Mike who lived in Phoenix Arizona He was off for the next few days and invited me up there to party with him I took him up on the offer I had nothing going on or any sort of plans at the time Coincidently my Staff Sergeant at the time asked me about my weekend plans I told him the situation and the invited I had received from my friend He was nice enough to let me off of work at noon to get a head start on the driving Since it was a two and a half hour drive he felt it was safer to drive as early as possible Let the Lost Vacation begin it was a semi warm day for being a February I had my Yellowcard CD in the deck windows rolled down with a cherry coke in hand for the drive After one gas stop and a speeding ticket later I finally arrived at my
