I attended the shifting your atmosphere conference on September28 2011 at 800 pm in the Thomas Cole ResearchCenterauditorium This was a beneficial learning experience based onthe steps it would take to excel as a leader Bryan Meadows wasthe guest speaker at the conference and he convinced me thateveryone has the potential to become a leader if they listentohis stepsBryan Meadows discussion was based on a couple of topics but thetopics of culture and leadership and management skills and howthey are all connected stood out to me The most interestingpart of the event was the beginning of his speech was when hetalked about culture He described how someones culture isrepresented through their attitude for example the way theytalk but not just an accent or a drawl but the attitude inwhich they speak He called on me as an example and askedmewhere I was from When I said New York he explained that ifyou met someone from New York you can tell they are from NewYork because of their stance or approach He described howculture grows on you depending on where your from and he made adirect connection to leadership According to Bryan Meadowsleaders speak a certain way and have a certain attitude thatmakes them a leader Everything that leaders would representwould derive from a particular vision I learned that everyleader has a vision that is the bases for their dream He saidthat if you are a leader the first thing you would have tobegin to evaluate is your vision and what are you trying toaccomplish Your vision would formulate a structure andfoundation for your dream and everythingthat you do willrepresent your vision I also learned from Meadows that if youhave a vision you do not need to worry about making difficultdecisions I related this statement to myself because not tolong ago I made a vision board and hung it up on the wall inmy dorm This vision board was the representation of everythingthat I was going
