Sailing Green orange and brown blended together in the water Half empty trees towered above me at the edge and as the wind blew tokens of approaching winter fell into the water There was laughing cheering even familiar faces were all around me We pushed off the dock and sailed out of the tiny bay The wind was fierce that day perfect for sailing It blew the oceans mist into my face cooling it in natures playful way The sun shone so bright that day forcing me to squint The ocean was a deep cerulean color as mystifying as it was beautiful Waves lapped up against the side of the boat rocking it and making it keel One wave came along that shook the little boat and everyone gasped in excitement but the wind pushed us back To my left is the shore stable and proverbial But a glance to the right leaves my family and I alone with the ocean Closing my eyes I am a fish and this is my home The air smells like fall and I let the sun shine onto my face and the wind blow my hair in all directions The boat begins slowing with the wind and while I am sitting with my Mom we discuss school I could think of no better place to spend a Sunday afternoon The boat slows with the wind and my brother casts a fishing line into the water After a minute or so a tug comes onto the line His eyes widen as he reels in the fish at a quick calculated speed Dinner He says My sister makes a face as my brother and I struggle to get the hook out of the fishs lip The fish wiggles and writhes but my brother shows no mercy and throws him in the cooler in the back of the boat Sailing is something that I remember as bringing my family
