Look around you you are probably sitting in your heated house watching television But outside there are people in the cold with nothing but a blanket they have not had a warm meal in over three months The world is not perfect I believe that my life changed when I went on a weekend mission trip downtown to SafeHouse Outreach I saw how people adapted to their environment realized that the change of the world is at my figure tips and that my purpose in life is to serveGoing on this mission trip challenged me to become an adult and helped me become who I am today The world will never be perfect There are many people outside in the cold starving One important moment from this trip that I will never forget was when I got to become homeless for a day My group and I had to stay outside starting at dawn and ending at dusk We scavenged for places to go ate our sack lunches under a bridge and stayed warm in a parking garage This was a wide opening experience for me It taught me not to be self-conceded and to not take things for grantedAnyone has the power to change the world During this trip I got to experience and change the world for some of the homeless people Giving out sandwiches taking the time to talk and listen to the homeless meant the world to them They went from frowning to laughing and smiling Seeing the happiness on their faces made me feel accomplished inside On the last night of the trip my group and I got to lead a worship service in the SafeHouse Outreach church Afterwards we served chili to the people in need Talking and learning about how these people got in this position was incredible I will never forget a story told by a couple They were living on the streets because God called
