My high school years playing basketball studying and just being generally boring Upon graduating high school I attended Belmont Abbey and McDowell Technical Community College where I earned a LPN degree and stop being boring I became the female equivalent of Charlie Sheen it was and not to pretty Four or five years of this sheen-like behavior brought me to a crises point which changed my life forever I took a full time position in a long-term care facility working as a LPN I was stressed out due to the care of 60 plus patients I had never medicated so many people with the amount of medication on a two hour window Nurse school we had a total of 7-10 patients I started having some chest pains and headaches I thought it was stress and anxiety from me being a new nurse I knew I was out of shape and over weight but honesty thought it was all job related stress Chest pains landed me at McDowell Hospital The hospital reputation was as scary as the chest pain This is the hospital with horror stories such as a asylum When I arrived to the hospital I was admitted with extreme hypertension Tests were performed to monitor blood pressure and assess organ damage Regular monitoring of blood pressure Eye exam to look for swelling and bleeding Blood and urine testing My blood pressure as quickly bring down with intravenous IV blood pressure medications to prevent further organ damage I had to take a stress test to evaluate my heart The technician place 10 flat sticky patches electrodes on my chest These were attached to an ECG monitor that follows the electrical activity of your heart during the test I walk on a treadmill slowly every 3 minutes I was asked to walk faster and on an incline While I walked my heart was measured with an electrocardiogram ECG and my blood pressure reading were being taken
