Imagine going to a different continent you have never been to before A continent where everyone is so diverse and people are speaking in languages you do not quite understand The summer after I graduated high school I had an once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to travel Europe for over half a month with my best friend She and I went to visit a very close friend in Sweden Before arriving to Sweden we had been on airplanes for almost 24 hours Jet-lagged and disoriented Savannah and I had a hard time finding our gates once we entered Europe Everything was written in a different language and it was very confusing Eventually we got the hang of things I once thought the culture of Europe would be incomparable to any place I have ever been but I was shortly proven wrong when I realized how fortunate America really isThe trouble we went through flying from country to country to get to our destination was indescribable It was both our first time travelling out of the country without our parents The fear and anxiety that ran through our minds once we departed Atlanta Georgia to go to Amsterdam Netherlands was a feeling I never want to experience again We had to mentally and physically prepare ourselves for the nine and a half hour flight we had ahead of us It was tough but when we landed safely it was the best feeling in the world Getting lost in an airport with just one other person with me was very scary The signs in the European airports were very misleading and not to mention it is very difficult to try and find an English-speaking person and ask them for help As soon as I exited my last plane of the day I wanted to let my parents know that I was safe Sadly there was no
