Growing up in a dysfunctional family leads children to experience emotional or physical abuse either through words or actions Love is an emotion of strong affection and personal attachment Having a parent-child relationship is very important in every family In the story Fiesta 1980 by Junot Diaz and the poem Those Winter Sundays by Robert Hayden the boys recall their childhood memories in which love betweenfather and son is absent In the story the sons vomiting is a call for help as to there is something wrong with him His father does not pay attention to him He makes him stay quiet about his mistress which take an emotional and mental impact on him On the other hand in the poem the father is a lovely personwho takes care of his son but he does not appreciate what his father does for him Both boys have no relationship with their father Love and respect is a great factor that is missing The story Fiesta 1980 by Junot Diaz recalls the childhood experience of a father and son Yunior and his family migrated from Dominican Republic to the Bronx New York City Yunior is having psychosomatic illness physical symptoms produced by mind and emotions Yunior gets sick every time he gets into his fathers lime-green Volkswagen van His father has a Puerto Rican mistress which Yunior calls her Sucia He feels disgusted towards his father His father even takes him over to his mistress house for eat He loves his mother very much and in a way stays quiet not to start any conflict or hurt her He tries to forget his fathers action which physically he throws up in the van It gets his father irritated and annoyed Yuniors father does not see the abuse he is causing on his son There is no love no communication or respect between father and son The poem Those Winter Sundays by Robert Hayden is a personal
