I came to the United States when I was 7 years old with my two parents and my little brother and sisters Ive always been the type of person who has faced a lot of challenges in my life I would say that my first year was the hardest one for me because I did not speak any word of English and was not accustomed to the culture I struggle to learn the language but my mom always told me that even though people want you to fail dont let anyone tell you that you cant do it she told me if you put your mind to it anything was possible I really did took that to heart and really started to stay after school almost every day and do simple exercise that taught me the basics of English In one year I was with hard work I was taken off the program ESL which was a program for student that spoke English as a second language The school decided to take me out because I had improve on all of my studies and I show sign of a person that did not need additional help like extra time on test or a translator I would always look at people on how they didnt have to try that hard to just study for a test or a simple vocabulary quiz because for me I had to look each work and find the meaning in Spanish and then translate every word so IO could get the meaning of that word I often felt like giving up because I felt that no one could relate to me on learning a new language but that experience when I look back it I feel that It made me into a person who became independent of myself and my studies It made me look at liffe and the not the bad and the hard work but the light at the
