In the novel A Clockwork Orange Anthony Burgess author of the book has tried to show the importance of individual freedom over doing the right thing He has shown extreme acts of violence in the book to show his strong belief Alex the main charater and his droogs Georgie Dim and Pete are the main characters in a novel that is set in the foreseeable future In this future there are few police officers and too much crime At night people just lock their doors and pray that a gang of hoodlums doesnt attack them and their family during the night Alex and his droogs are one of these gangs His gang hangs out at a place called the Korova Milkbar and then proceeds to go on nightly rampages through the streets of London Their crimes consist of beating the elderly murder and raping women This is a nightly event for Alex and his droogs however they have never been caught Alex ends up punching Dim one of his droogs after a brief phase The rest of the group doesnt think that punching Dim was appropriate especially after Alex said he had the right to punch Dim because Alex was the leader One night during an attack Dim in order to get revenge knocked out Alex after Alex had committed a crime He then proceeded to leave Alex at the crime scene for the police to pick him up After being questioned at the police station Alex is informed that the woman he attacked perished Alex receives a sentence of fourteen years in prison Alex is selected for a special medical procedure called the Ludovico Technique This process involved taking the states criminals and forcing them to watch gruesome movies of violence while at the same time being injected with a chemical that made you feel sick The theory behind the technique was that after being exposed
