Christina's feedback:
"This essay is off to a great start, and you do a good job discussing the topic of empathy. I like that you've pulled some quotes from Spinoza and Dickens to help illustrate your point. The formatting of the essay could use some work, such as spaces between paragraphs or indentations to help your reader differentiate between paragraphs. There are a lot of run-on sentences or comma splices that make it difficult to follow your train of thought. For instance, the first paragraph is one long sentence, so try breaking it up into smaller pieces that use periods. A round of editing or proofreading can help you resolve these types of errors. The end of your essay is also a bit confusing since the sentence in the second to last paragraph ends with no period and the last paragraph doesn't quite fit the rest of what you're discussing."
