Hardly did I ever struggle with reading and comprehending novelties I labeled myself as a bibliophile who loved reading books and saving them for a second ride I was not aphilosopher but when I read I would use all five senses just to put myself in the authors shoes Around my early ages kids my age were out in the streets doing all kinds of unfortunate things Unlike them I found it beneficial to escape from the violence and read books As I read I would find myself distant from the outside world and floating on cloud 9Commonly just like most people I ended up sinking through the ice crystals of life Cancer had stopped my interest in reading and as the years progressed my reading stood at a standstillIt all started eighth grade summer at the University of Richmond I was recommended to take courses in the MSI Math and Science Investigators program It was an academic program designed to increase the interest knowledge and performance levels of students enrolled in Richmond Public Schools It was the best decision I made that summer The program lasted for five weeks and you only had two classes to attendFirst day in my English class my teacher Ms Jackson handed out a reading assignment to do by the end of the program It was three books November blues Tears of a Tiger and Double Dutch Anybody could read these books and understand the purpose that the author was trying to convey While I read the books I had notice that my mind would put itself in a place where I was the main character I had found my secret It was when I read those books that I discovered the passion for reading Being able to escape from the summer chaos and isolate my mind was how I was able to remain focus while reading While reading I would learn how to identify the purpose the
