Whos Watching An interesting subject that has come up with society is privacy There are many people that dont want privacy and some that do want privacy A part of why this subject has come up is because of the showing of lives on the Internet TV and movies Jennifer Ringley the writer of Why I Star in My Own Truman Show has her own web site exhibiting her life day-by-day She states I enjoy my privacy I just like to enjoy it with you With her stating that she also makes it clear that shes also not an exhibitionist Maybe she doesnt want fame The writer of Look at Me Leave Me Alone Joshua Gamson argues that Americas standpoint of privacy is that we have desires to watch others to be watched and to be free from being watched Jennifer L Felten writer of My Taxicab Confession supports Gamsons view of privacy Her essay tells her tell all story of her encounter with HBOs documentary series Taxicab Confessions HBO wanting her story made her think May be we would be discovered She was struck with wanting to be famous She wanted to be watched As people think that they are private people and consider themselves to not be watched they could be watched in certain places Gamson tells of different places you might be watched and not even know it He says that you dont even need to be watched by camera it could be by your credit or shopping cards In his article he states The increased recording of information most of us thought was ours alone is not so much a matter of getting you to adjust your behavior as to generate information from which to sell you more things Businesses are taking the information you give them and giving it to other companies without your permission By using the cards or surveillance cameras throughout their store they can capture
