Troubled Minds and EmptinessShe lay curled up in a pile of blankets and pillows on her bed The room seemed icy cold despite the summer-like heat Tissues and empty tubs of Ben and Jerrys littered the floor A rom-com hummed from the TV and the light of the screen flickered in the dim room She wasnt paying it much attention She didnt think there was anything comedic about romance It had been four months since the breakup She wasnt counting but the days and weeks seemed to pass so slowly it wasnt hard to keep track She ached and she hated pining after him like this She wanted to be strong and independent just like she was the years before they met But he took something when he left it was like a piece of her was gone She didnt feel empty just incomplete She had let it happen though She was the one who put herself out there She gave him her heart and he took it without hesitation He had such a gentle touch and she handed it over willingly She had been so careful before But as soon as she met him the walls came crashing down all at once like a detonated building She had never felt so vulnerable and in love She was bubbling over with happiness and all of her thoughts were filled with him With him it was different from any other crush she had before Some girls say that with every boy but this was for real It wasnt just some dumb jittery feeling in her stomach The feeling started in her heart and extended to her fingertips Her lips tingled for hours after each kiss His warm embrace would melt her heart The tears flowed again heavily as ever She turned up the volume on the TV trying to drown out her thoughts She wanted to be whole againWhen she turned her focus to the
