I loved Rodgers Hammersteins Cinderella the Broadway Musical I could deeply appreciate it because Cinderella is a classic story from my childhood However the musical version to the original Cinderella was slightly different It had a plot line that revealed more of the Princes personality and for me provided a more believable reason as to why Cinderella and the Prince fell in love In this version they met three times They met at the ball the banquet and lastly at Cinderellas home At the ball when Cinderella leaves with her glass shoe the audience is left wondering how the story will end The banquet being the twist to the plot strengthens their love and adds another aspect to the story Cinderella warns the prince about the villagers being oppressed under Sebastian the advisor He immediately takes action and is thankful that Cinderella brought it to his attention This part of the story showed a correlation in Cinderellas and the Princes personality They both wanted to be something more They wanted to find their true selves and live happily Cinderella wanted to be a princess and wanted to leave the life she had The Prince wanted to be a good leader and also wanted a true friend They both found that in each other and ultimately fell in love Other than the amazing plot of the performance I found the set designing of the musical to be very resourceful Some pieces of the musicals scenery were used multiple times to portray different settings and times For example the revolving house and the columns were used to show the interior and exterior of Cinderellas house and the Castle Also the costume changing was very enjoyable to watch You could tell distractions were used to avert the eyes as Cinderellas peasant clothes turned into a gown The change was so quick that it left you wondering how it was done Overall I really enjoyed watching the play
