The Renaissance which began in Italy in the13th century was one of the largest periods of growth and development in Western Europe It started in many rich Italian cities such as Florence Milan Venice and Rome In this period of time those Italian-cities were transformed from communes to territorial states Rome is described in the book Renaissance Rome by Peter Partner as one of the Italian-cities that have been totally changed in this period Peter Partner tries to show in this book and he succeeds in most of its content how the popes and the contractors made possible the reorganization of their environment on a grand scale Peter Partner Renaissance Rome Introduction pg 7 after the year 1500 when the same Rome just before 1500 was only a large medieval village smelling of cows and hay Peter Partner Renaissance Rome Introduction pg 4 Peter Partner divides the book Renaissance Rome in seven chapters that covers the period of time between 1500-1559 with all the important events The organization of the book is very interesting and clear because Partner does not take the facts from this period of time and list them in chronological order but what he does is to classify those events in the seven chapters For example in the first chapter he describes the Rome with the Papal policy In this chapter he lists all the pontificate popes that ruled the Christian religion with their personalities and with their decisions that influenced the Rome international and intern status during this period 2 Cardinal Del Monte
