Romeo and Juliet the novel by William Shakespeare and the film directed by Franco Zeffirelli have many of the key events they are just delivered differently Key aspects of the novel and film are the Party Scene the interaction between Romeo and Juliet and Tybalts anger and scolding had both similarities and differences Not every detail can be seen or taken into account by directors but they can try to get it as accurate as possible Comparing the novel Romeo and Juliet to the film three ideas stood out The party being held at the Capulets home was a masquerade party in both film and narrative Guests wore masks and clothing resembling costumes In the film Romeo had a cheetah mask covering his face from view While at the party Romeo lays his eyes upon Juliet and was mesmerized she took his breath away He fell instantly in love with her just from one look Tybalt witnesses this and he becomes angry and protective of his cousin He tells Lord Capulet Uncle this is a Montague our foe a villain that is hither come in spite to scorn at our solemnity this nightShakespeare 29 Similarities are seen throughout the book and movie Similarities as well as differences are seen in each At the party the guests dance with bells on the wrists after the formal dance This was a scene not in the book Romeo was able to dance with Juliet during this time because it was a more relaxed and fun dance After Romeo caught a glimpse of her he could not peel his eyes away from her beautiful face Both Tybalt and Juliet realized that he was starring at her Only Tybalt knew who the man under the mask was Juliet kept dancing and would glance back to still find him starring at her In the novel Juliet does not realize Romeo is there until she kisses him After this Tybalt
