For this reflection paper I went to CNNcom trying to find an interesting article Being an accounting major I went to the business section The first article I saw immediately caught my eye B-school remorse When the degree is just not worth it I have been planning on going to graduate school next year so I was interested in what the author John Byrne had to say Basically the article was about a lady Marianna Zanetti who moved to Spain with her husband after he got a promotion She attended the one-year MBA program at Instituto de Empresa IE Business School in Madrid Zanetti borrowed money from her family to pay for the degree And when she graduated in 2003 it took her a full year to land a job as a product manager at a Spanish version of Home Depot at exactly the same salary she was earning three years earlier without the MBA Zanettis complaint about the MBA is hardly new It falls neatly into the growing genre of anti-higher education tirades that decry the rising cost of education and the lack of any guarantees After reading this article I was a little nervous about my future plans I started to do some more research about my graduate school plans Between Norwich and another year of graduate school I will be under some financial stress It is pretty imperative that I start working right after I graduate As I did some research I realized that getting my master degree would in fact be a good investment for me The problem with an MBA is that it is way to general I plan on getting a Master of Science in Accountancy degree By earning a more specialized degree it will help advance my career over a general MBA After realizing that this would be a good investment for me I let out a sigh of relief and then another thought struck meZanetti isnt the
