Bridget's feedback:
"It sounds like you enjoyed the story and its mood and tension. I encourage you to take advantage of this reader reaction and focus your next steps on shifting the essay's focus from plot summary (what happens in the story) to analysis (how what happens created your experience as a reader). Instead of presenting all the plot details and then discussing your interpretation, brainstorm some other essay structures or organizations that will let you move past the plot from the get-go. For example, you note three elements that create the story's impact: the power of nature, Janet's own emotions, and the situation she is stuck in. These could each become a body paragraph that explains how the writer conveys those elements and how they each contribute to the effect of the story.
The current essay is one very long paragraph, so I recommend trying out the classic five-paragraph essay form first. You might want to outline your ideas and how they will fit into the structure, creating a bridge from this draft to the next."
