All the Worlds a StageI started singing when I was two years old and the intoxication that sweet notes gave me never left When I was growing up music was always an integral part of our household Sweet resounding notes rang from our kitchen when my sister and I sang along to our mothers ancient CD player It was an unspoken rule in my house that we participated in band and choir and another silent expectation was to strive to be clever intelligent and bright everything my parents believed they never were Following my entrance to kindergarten it became clear to my jubilating parents that I like my sister was gifted in academics as well as music Enjoying the attention from my parents I played along with their fantasies of me becoming a cunning doctor or an edgy engineer Shakespeare wrote that all the worlds a stage and I the prime example acted out the role of star student I loved my parents and they loved me but they failed to comprehend that academics were not all that interesting to me Yes I obtained good grades and I enjoyed school but music remained more intriguing to me than anything else Along came the end of junior year in high school My parents took me on college visits but due to its superb music program I found myself drawn to a certain college They boasted one of the best choirs in the country and I wanted to be a part of it but I could not disappoint my parents The acting started to become my normal life as I found myself reprising my role of intelligent student endlessly and I found myself in a conundrum College became a scary thought for I did not know if I should honor my parents or become the person I wanted to be Becoming an engineer or architect could bring me great success but I could not hold back
