When it comes to pet peeves there is one thing that really comes to my mind its people who inappropriately abuse the welfare system By this I am referring to the select few who I feel are taking advantage of the program They show no interest in trying to better themselves or their situation and I also feel there needs to be some type of earning what you receive There are definitely those that take advantage of this program using the welfare system as the easy way out I feel there needs to be more screening of each participant making sure they are qualified to receive the funding and not abusing the system This screening should continue at least every six months Im sure this involves more paperwork for someone but we need to be a little more selective on who truly deserves to get this help Every day I see a local family that is on welfare and enjoying the easy life Generally those receiving welfare should be preparing themselves to earn their own income in the future The government should be providing more schooling and training for these people to help get them get ready for a independent life without welfare Its easy for them to fall into a lazy lifestyle because they expect someone to give them a handout A lazy lifestyle for some means no ambition no desire to get ahead in life and they become content to live in poverty I realize that not everyone fits into this such as those who are disabled elderly handicapped mentally challenged and those who arent physically able to work Mostly Im referring to those perfectly capable of working and doing something with their lives If they do need welfare assistance put a definite time limit on it and they need to be on a program similar to unemployment What are they doing to get out of this situation Are they looking and
