I believe that the 13th warrior is a close enough depiction of Anglo-Saxon society Through out the movie there were many examples of this society The ones which I thought to be the most important include the war-like attitude fatalism and revenge With this movie I was able to understand how the Anglo-Saxon society lived their lives and get a much better image of their personalities and how their attitude in life affects their destiny In the Anglo-Saxon society great warriors would become recognized because they would talk about them selves In the 13th Warrior every one that came with Bolvai carried a war-like attitude They made them selves look very strong and seemed to fear nothing In their society great warriors are known every where In the 13th warrior Bolvai came to help another tribe and the other tribe knew Bolvai and his ancestors because of their accomplishments They spoke as if nothing could stop them and when the time came they fought with everything they could and never gave up This movie also portrayed fatalism very well And example of fatalism being portrayed was when everyone knew they were going to die in a hopeless battle and they still fought The hopeless battle was against the people dressed as bears They knew they had no chance and if death was to come to them they would not fear it and rather then be scared they accept it Another example of fatalism is in the end of the movie Bolvai had been poisoned and he still fought and gave all he could knowing he was going to die Last but not least is revenge In the Anglo-Saxon society revenge was a very essential element and it was not left out in the 13th Warrior In their society revenge was a necessity no matter what happened you always had to avenge someones death unless they paid you for it In the movie one of
