What is the emphasis of the creation account in the book of Genesis Genesis the first book of the Bible tells of the beginning of the world from the time when God created the heaven and the earth The basic aim of Genesis is to relate all of creation to God The emphasis in the creation account was more on God than on what was created It also explains the role of Israel in the world for example relationships between God and the Hebrew nation Hebrew theologians expressed the belief that there is only one God God is the creator of the universe and responsible for all creation the sun the moon the sea the sky the earth and humanity God also has complete power over creation They rejected myths and claims of other nations that there are other Gods and these Gods arise from creation These societies during this period believe and worship different objects the sun the moon the stars and their kings as their Gods In contrast theologians in Israel believed and preached that you cannot worship what God has created because they get their power from God The sun gets its light from God and the earth has no power to give life but do so by Gods command and man was created by God and placed on earth They also did not try to explain the origin of the one and only God God has always been present We cannot explain or be capable of understanding everything about God
