Bridget's feedback:
"This essay is written in a clear and purposeful manner, remains focused on the topic, and is structured logically. These strengths ensure the reader follows the discussion across the paragraphs and into the concluding points. I recommend working a little bit more with the argumentation at the sentence level, including making more use of specific examples (and sources); the point about in-vitro methods in the last body paragraph gives the reader something specific to grasp as they navigate the discussion. Try to include that level of specificity in the other body paragraphs as well; this will also, properly sourced, function as further evidence, avoiding broad claims that cause the reader to question the accuracy. The claim about why activists target scientists rather than farmers should, for example, be backed up by evidence explaining these tactics and strategies; similarly, the percentages given in that same paragraph should be sourced.
I'd like to workshop a few points in the opening paragraph to demonstrate my next comment, which is about using more active, assertive, and direct language for impact and communication. Note that the phrase "There has been a..." delays the reader's encounter with the main idea of the sentence -- can you revise that opening by trimming that phrasing? Again, "it is very debatable" (is it?) in the next sentence throws up another roadblock before the main point is reached. Consider, to give one example, "Some question whether using animals for such research results in...""
