Over the years people have asked many questions about the biology of romantic love and the biology of sexuality Scientist took peoples questions and did studies and experiments When you review their work you find the similarities and differences between romantic love and sexuality The main question that arose when discussing both romantic love and sexuality was why we love In Fischers chapters 3 and 4 she discusses answers to this question from the biology of romantic love side She comes to the conclusion that we love based on certain levels of hormones The three main hormones involved include dopamine norepinephrine and serotonin To test her theory she paired up with neuroscientist Greg Simpson to perform brain test She found participates who were currently in love Next she did an fMRI on them She would show a picture of the participants loved one and also a picture of someone else theyve met but doesnt gives them a neutral feeling The fMRI machine took pictures of the participants brains during the showing of the pictures The machine measures blood flow in the brain When brain cells are more active more blood flows to that area The experiment was revised and a few things were added One thing that she noticed was people have a hard time not thinking about their loved one because of this she made them count down from a large number to cleanse the mind Next the question that came up was is the photograph enough This then brought her to the Love-o-meter The Love-o-Meter had volunteers hooked up to an EEG machine that wasnt actually turned on This time with the pictures they also presented scents letters songs and good memories When seeing these things the volunteer then tuned a dial from 0-30 degrees to show how strong their feelings are Through this experiment they found that pictures to elicit romantic love After both of these smaller experiments they were finally
