Iva's feedback:
"The points you begin to raise in the third paragraph, about the influence of imperialism on our world today, are a good foundation for a thought-provoking exploration of the ties between the past and the present. However, they - like many of your other claims - are underdeveloped: you state them but do not explain or support them. For example, in the second paragraph, you mention that morals in the past - when imperialism was rampant - were different but do not give any examples of how. Similarly, though you repeat that the connotations of the word "imperialism" have changed over time, you never explicitly define those connotations, just their differing levels of negativity. Much of the issues with the body can be addressed by using your introduction as a roadmap for what the reader can expect. Currently, your introduction suggests that you will be arguing about who can and can't be classified as an imperialist, but your body does not do this (and your prompt does not ask for it). Revamping your introduction to clarify that you will focus on how the connotation of the word has grown more negative over time will help give you structure. Adding a conclusion that reiterates your key points will tie that structure together. Finally, if you choose to add more quotations from outside sources to support your claims (which would be a great way to lend credibility to your arguments), make sure to include MLA style in-text citations following their inclusion to ensure that you're giving credit to the originators of the ideas you reference."
