The Family The term family in my opinion is someone that is related to you by blood or marriage and the ties are relatively permanent They help in the economic stature of The Family and provide for you This could also include a man with many wives or a wife with many husbands The definition of the family has definitely changed over time At the beginning of this century the family was considered to be a mother father and kids Of course the grandparents and cousins also but mostly the people you lived with These days we have things like divorce adoption or run away kids In the case of a divorce the child doesnt live with both of his parents in the same setting Instead he has one parent in one location and the other in yet another location Although they dont live together most of these kids consider both of their parents as family As you move on to different types of cultures there are definite differences in what the family should be Take for instance the middle east where in a lot of cases a male has more then just one wife In the United State this occurrence is a very rare thing to find women are equal to men and therefore it is there right as is the males to pick there mate But if the mate of either sex was to have another interest in the US most likely both will break up with that particular mate upon finding out Also in some cultures the father really has nothing to do with the bringing up of the children Most believe that this can have a negative affect on children In America the father plays as significant a role in bringing up children as does the mother Some societies might also think of only the people they live with as family and the line stops there I
