In Dantes Inferno Dante Alighieri gives a very descriptive description of hell He shares his vision of hell with us through the story He sees hell as being in a funnel shape the further down the funnel the closer to the center of hell He splits hell up into levels and places people he believes should be in these levels of hell He also gives each level a punishment that he feels is fitting to their crime I agree with Dantes thoughts on the levels of hell and the punishment for them and I also agree with where I was placed when I took the test that placed me in a level of hellDante splits hell up into 9 different levels or as he calls it circles Circles starting from the circle at the top of the funnel and going deeper down the funnel is circle 1 Limbo circle 2 Lust circle 3 Gluttony circle 4 Avarice and Prodigality circle 5 Anger an Sullenness circle 6 Hersey circle 7 Violence circle 8 Fraud and circle 9 Treachery People are places in one of the circles based off of the sins they commit At first I did not understand why Dante placed lust on the higher level I felt that lust was a bad sin and should be placed on a lower level of hell but as I thought about it I can to a conclusion that is not as bad as a sin as the ones that were placed at a lower level so it was ok for it to be on the upper level of hell I still would at least place lust after gluttony To me lust is a worse sin than gluttony is I agree with his punishments for each circle They have to live in the pain of the sin every day except for those in limbo who are not punished For example those who are angry that live in
