This is a story about a man who was never at a loss Rouse 3 The Odyssey is a story known by many but what about the people who have not had the chance to read or hear about the gods The gods are what keep this story interesting Odysseus is having his feuds with other humans while the gods are having feuds with each other Zeus and Poseidon are the two most powerful gods they are brothers and enjoy leaving their other brother Hades out of things Zeus and Poseidon are the main gods in this story as well as Athena Zeuss favorite child Athena was Odysseus mentor she kept an eye on him When things became hard she always gave him a little nudge to keep going The Odyssey is filled with action love and determination Athena Zeus and Poseidon show the conflict between men and godsIn the spirit of the boy she left courage and confidencehe was amazed and believed she was a god WHD Rouse Homer p 11 Athena is very wise and she helps Odysseus and his son Telemachus reunite Throughout the Odysseuss whole journey Athena is always watching his back Odysseus becomes very upset because he feels he is never going to get home but Athena reassures him and tells him to keep going When Odysseus gets back to his home town Ithaca Athena helps him get into the town without being recognized Athena also is useful because she is Zeuss favorite daughter and he will do anything for his daughter even if this means to keep Poseidon from killing him Athena was Odysseuss patron everything he did he thought of two people his wife Penelope and Athena When Odysseus blinds a Cyclops named Polyphemus Poseidon becomes furious because Polyphemus is son Athena tells her father to not kill Odysseus and Zeus then advises Poseidon not to kill
