Firing Up a 2-Stroke Dirt Bike All Motocross bikes are started by a kick starter The reason they do not have an electric start is simply because they do not have enough room and it is just more weight the manufacturer has to add on to the bike Starting a dirt bike is an easy process if the process is done correctly People who do not know how to start a dirt bike might have some trouble if not showed correctly For people who know a lot about dirt bikes it is very easy The process of firing up and starting a 2-stroke is an easy and exciting thing to do First the choke must be turned on The choke is usually turned on during a cold season or a cold start Motors do not like being cold so the choke helps them out by adding the right amount of air through The choke is located on the carburetor and is usually pulled up or out Choke creates more or less gas and airflow into the carburetor When this is done the bike is twice as easy to start When the choke is not pulled up the bike will usually not kick over until the cylinder is warmed up The choke just simply helps start the bike After the bike is started and warmed up the choke can be turned off and the bike is ready to ride The choke should never be on when the bike is being ridden Second the bike must be kick started Kick starting creates a spark from the spark plug to ignite the gas Gasoline is made flammable so the spark plug can ignite it The internal combustion of the engine is what makes the power available Smaller motors are much easier to start than bigger motors Smaller motors have smaller pistons which creates less friction on the cylinder piston rings and rod The smallness of the
