The ocean has a generally cold climate and the deeper you get the colder it is In some seasons right next to the shoreline the ocean can be warm but it rarely happens The ocean is divided into sections according to depth The further down the section is the colder the water is The lowest section or the abyssal zone is known to get to temperatures around 3 degrees Celsius The climate is the way it is because of the amount of light in the area For example in the abyssal zone there is the least amount of light so therefore it is the coldest section The next up the benthic zone has the most drastic climate change within it It has some of the same temperatures as the abyssal zone but also has warmer spots near the top The pelagic zone which is the second to the top zone is generally cold though it is hard to give a general temperature range since just like a pond or a lake there is a thermal stratification with a constant mixing of warm and cold ocean currents The top and last section is the intertidal zone The intertidal zone is the warmest of all the sections of the ocean because it is the closest to the sun Its temperature varies day to day because of the constant weather change People greatly effect our oceans in ways you may not know of Boaters fishing or just riding around kill animals with there boats Animals such as sharks and other fish When anchors are suddenly dropped into the sea fragile ecosystems are damaged People go whale hunting to make money They kill hundreds of whales each year and while fishing for things like tuna fisherman sometimes get other
