Bridget's feedback:
"You've written a compassionately argued and well-organized paper, with sound mechanics and good flow. The reader is smoothly guided through the argument as you build toward the conclusion. To really strengthen the paper's rhetoric and persuasiveness, I would encourage you to take advantage of sources (including sourcing the opening quotation). There are a few reasons to incorporate sources into even a well-argued and logically presented paper. The use of sources really builds ethos, showing the reader you've worked with the body of research relevant to the topic. Source usage can also provide more precise or efficient examples (anecdotes, statistical data); for example, doing some research into Nazi policies regarding homosexuality might bring up an even more targeted and impactful example to use at the end. Citations themselves also help the reader differentiate your claims from outside sources' claims. For example, I found the Jamie Bulger example to be on the extreme side; if this is an example directly from the claims of the pro-Clause 28 camp, then it makes sense to show how they define their position. As your own talking point, it ends up being a bit clumsy. Finally, if this paper is being revised in the present day (I write this in 2020), I would recommend updating the discussion to reflect the eventual repeal of Clause 28 in 2000. This would not change your argument about the pro/con nature of the situation before the repeal, but rather provide a full context for those debates."
