Those that oppose condom distribution believe that schools are promoting sexual activity among teens On the contrary high schools are not promoting sexual activity They are encouraging abstinence and providing protection for students who are already sexually active Many teenagers do not think of the consequences and the risk that may come along with being sexually active The thought of sexual activity often begins with social media Social media exposes many different types of explicit behaviors Explicit behaviors can be found in movies music videos video games magazines and television Teens that are exposed to these types of media are more likely to become sexually active Condoms have reduced Sexually Transmitted Diseases STDs unintended teenage pregnancies and dropout rates in high schoolCondom distribution in high school will decrease STDs Many young people engage in risky sexual behaviors such as unprotected sex and multiple partners These factors can result in STDs STDs are infections that can be transferred from one person to another through blood transmission intimate contact or birth transmission According to the Center for Disease Control CDC 474 of young people have had sexual intercourse and 337 have had sexual intercourse during the previous three months Of these sexually active teens 398 did not use a condom the last time they had sexual intercourse 767 did not use birth control pills or Depo-Provera to prevent pregnancies Additionally 153 have had sex with four or more people during their life Adolescent and School Health Research shows that almost 40 of students say that they did not use a condom the last time they had sex If condoms were available in school that number would lower drastically The adolescents who do not use condoms are usually the kids who come from a low income background and cannot afford to spend their money on condoms Sexual risk behaviors among adolescent places them at a higher risk for sexually transmitted diseases According to the Office of Adolescent
