The newspaper industry is loosing favor with their younger readers People are still reading but just not newspapers According to the Pew Research Centers latest study on media habits the percentage of the population that read newspapers is down 11 over the last six year Pushing the number of people who read papers on a daily basis to less then half of the population There are several factors that have contributed to this sharp decline in readership and without changes being made to what context and how news papers are presented there may be nothing that newspapers can do to survive According to the Pew Center the younger demographic of their survey read as much as the older ones it is just that the younger readers tend to read more magazines and books then newspapers One contributing factor to this is that you can receive more specific and detailed information through books and magazines Newspapers can draw on the success of magazines to better themselves For example more newspapers need to be established that cater to the want of the reader The Pew Center found that of those younger Americans who do read the paper are drawn to it by national and international news Newspapers need to expand their coverage on such topics also more national daily newspapers need to be established so that there is a greater emphasis on those subjects Also condensing the news into shorter quips might bring in more readers since 63 polled by the Pew Center say they wish they had more time to devote to news A condensed form of the newspaper would allow people to save time while still being able to read the paper Another aspect of newspapers that need to change in order to survive is its layout We live in a flashy electronic society where bright images catch our attention However most newspapers are seen has gray thus leading to the idea that they
