What is diabetes There are two types of diabetes type 1 and type 2 Type 1 diabetes also known as juvenile diabetes is usually diagnosed in children and young adults Type 1 diabetes is a condition in which the pancreas produces little or no insulin It has no cure but can be managed Type 2 diabetes is chronic condition that affects the way your body metabolizes sugar glucose With type 2 diabetes your body resists the effect of insulin or doesnt produce enough insulin to maintain a normal glucose level Type 2 diabetes can be life threatening Glucose is vital to your health because its an important source of energy If you have diabetes no matter what type it means you have to much glucose in your blood When having diabetes the pancreas doesnt function properly When the pancreas functions properly it discharges insulin into the blood stream Insulin is a hormone that is needed to convert sugar starch and other food into energy The insulin circulates enabling sugar to enter your cells Insulin lowers the amount of sugar in your bloodstream As your blood sugar level drops so does the secretion of insulin from your pancreas There are different ways to develop both type 1 and type 2 diabetes Type 1 diabetes is mostly developed by viruses early diet related to cold weather or can be inherited Type 2 diabetes can mostly be developed my family history obesity and life style factorsA diabetic will experience different symptoms Symptoms vary depending on how much your blood sugar is elevated A type 1 diabetic will experience increase thirst and frequent urination Extreme hunger weight loss fatigue problems and blurred vision The symptoms for type 1 diabetes come quickly and are severe Type 2 diabetes will experience areas of changed skin slow healing sores or frequent infections and other symptoms are the same as type 1 Symptoms
