Even though sex education is being taught in many schools across America this topic has been in hot debate for years Opinions on whether it should be taught range from the idea that teaching it will decrease teen pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases to the belief that it should be banned nationwide Those who agree that sex education should be taught in school also believe that this type of education needs to start as early as kindergarten to ensure sexually responsible adults Those who dont agree with this type of education feel that children should not be subjected to this kind of talk They feel that if sex education must be in the school system then abstinence should be taught instead of just the safe-sex program Either way people look at it sex education will most likely never leave the school systems anytime soon People need to realize that teaching sex education does not reduce teen pregnancy or reduce the risk of sexually transmitted diseases Instead it warns them about the risks and consequences the rest is up to them Parents feel that if sex education in school is taught then it will corrupt their children and make them want to go out and experiment with it Once teens learn all about safe sex and the feelings that go along with having sex they will want to try it out themselves In fact some parents feel sex education encourages sexual behavior This may be true to some extent When you tell anybody they cant do something they will have this overwhelming curiosity to go out and do what is forbidden So by teaching that sex is bad and full of risks and deadly diseases more than likely the teens will want to go out and do it Many teens feel that they are invisible to pregnancy and diseases anyway They wont use what they have been taught in school Many seem to have
