"You've provided a lot of good information on the events of the American Civil War and its aftermath. Some organization and reworking can make this a strong paper. It is difficult to tell what the main focus of the essay is since it lacks a proper introduction. Your first paragraph is long and jumps around to several different points. Make sure to cite direct quotations. Be careful about using flowery language such as "for the first time brother fought brother." This can come off as too dramatic for a scholarly paper, and in this case, is not necessarily true as loyalists fought against colonists in the American Revolution. The idea that the whole of the South supported slavery while the entire North opposed it is also an oversimplification and untrue on both sides. There are a number of generalizations like this that should at least be given a caveat."
