Sadem SalemTheatre 100Due 03172011Grease the musicalJim Jacobs the creator of Grease He lived in Chicago Illinois when he got the inspiration to create a musical about Teens in high school about the drama of love and their style of living their own lives He was one of the co-creators of the play and he decided to use some of his old friends in high school to create the characters The name of the play Grease was inspired from those teenagers with Greasy oily hair styles he also added other element to capture the life style they were living during that time such as the kind of food they used to eat the cheap fatty hamburgers and fries and the music they used to listen to On 1971 was the first performing in Chicago it was in a theatre called Kingston mins the cast was a non-professional actors the budget of the production was 171 at the beginning they planned to do four performances only in a house of 120 seats but then the show was extended really fast After six months they started a notional tour in USA and Canada and then they went around the world to Australia and Europe and after that foreign production started that was followed by a movie version of the play and thats how Grease the musical become one of the most popular musicals around the world The main reason wasnt because the play was just so unique and entertaining but the universal themes when people can relate to the production doesnt matter where they are from or what they look like The play was about love and that is all over the world talked about sexuality which is exist is every country every island and every town and also talked about Fitting in within a certain community people might make sacrifices to be in a certain group and that is universal too no one likes to feel
