What right does an authority figure have to punish individuals of good behavior When a teenager is behaving why should they be punished Mandatory curfews are seen as punishments for those who are behaving The decision of what a teenager can handle should be made judging on the individual not on society as a whole This trustworthiness in a teenager should not be taken away by the government It should be a decision made by the guardians of the young individual because only they realize the dependability of the teenager Mandatory curfews should not be used to regulate juvenile behavior The restrictions of a mandatory curfew can not be assigned to teenagers The government can not determine the restrictions that should apply to each and every young adult It should be an individual choice made by the responsible guardian instead of a social choice made by the general public A parent extending a curfew because of gained trust in the child encourages the youth to prove their maturity This helps build a solid fountain of trust and understanding between parent and child Having a mandatory curfew decided by the government eliminates the award of an extended curfew that a parent can give Without constant positive reinforcement a child can seek attention in negative ways This could cause adolescents to want to rebel more disregarding any curfew set The police department can not go around every night looking for every teenager out passed the mandatory curfew They have more important obligations than to monitor kids who are not causing trouble Instead this time should be used controlling the teenagers who are causing difficulty One may think that a mandatory curfew could eliminate a great deal of trouble contributed by teens There is no trouble that needs to be eliminated with teenagers who are not causing problems Therefore they should be able to benefit from their good behavior and this extra time should be contributed to stopping
