The novel The Kite Runner talks about how the main character Amir who once belonged to the son of a rich Kabul merchant hailed from the dominate ethnic tribe called pashtun where he tried to satisfy his father Baba by winning the kite tournament in order to get his love and appreciation for his accomplishments At the same time he became good friends with his servant Hassan a boy who was illiterate and came from an impoverished tribe called the Hazara As a result Hassan was often segregated from the rest of the group in taking part in any activities that Amir participated in because of the increased political ethnical and religious tension within Afghanistan Therefore their friendship fell apart when the main character Amir purposely accuses his best friend Hassan of stealing his gift money and wristwatch from him while he was asleep at night Afterward Amir felt traumatized by the guilt of abandoning his best friend in the time of need when Hassan was raped and tortured by a group of boys Later he spent nearly two decades of his life in California USA with his father Baba in order to escape the sudden plight of the Soviet invasion and tries to become a successful writer Soon he received a call from one of his fathers friend Rahim Khan who told him that its time to pay back for your sins against his best friend Hassan by taking his son Sohrab out of Afghanistan since Hassan and his wife were killed by the Taliban The leading theme in this story is about redemption were two friends have fallen apart because of ones betrayal against another In Khaled Hosseinis first novel The Kite Runner the main protagonist Amir pays back his loyalty to Hassan when Amir goes on the journey of redemption to rescue Hassans sonFirstly the main character Amir realizes his guilt from his childhood where he regrets his action committed in the
