The national security issue facing us today is a painful expression of gross unconsciousness Society is now being forced to reassess our views as a nation In the past race creed sexual preference and social standing have splintered us into a near caste system Now we have to take a look at the errors we have made and attempt to make amends to others and ourselves Some people still stuck in the past have taken advantage of this situation to fragment us more then before for personal benefit Actions such as this shall not be tolerated All of us have either been a victim or a dispenser prejudice in some form or another It appears we have progressed greatly from our past doing away with slavery passing the bill of rights etc However even though more subtle discrimination is still an American fixation After Sept 11 we have very little time to change our behavior As many great men have said divided we fall Following the tragedy in the east many people have developed a new appreciation for unity We have witnessed great acts of kindness and harmony in the past month famous musical artists spanning the range of genres have come together for tribute specials Comedy shows have taken respite from the laughs for heartfelt speeches All this greatness and yet some hold firm and preach separation Jerry Falwell anchor for the 700 Club said I really believe that the pagans and the abortionists and the feminists and the gays and the lesbians who are actively trying to make that an alternative lifestyle the ACLU People For the American Way - all of them who have tried to secularize America - I point the finger in their face and say you helped this happen This mockery and blaming of he American people is uncouth and blasphemous Some Americans cannot face this change in consciousness however they will fall away What will be left
