The melting pot was written by J Hector St John de Crevecoeur in 1782 His vision was to make a new society with European immigrants in America His idea has been very popular with many famous people in the past centuries Crevecoeur stated that European will be living their ancient prejudice and manners and they will receive a new ones in America Here individuals of all nations are melted into a new race of men this statement caused many conflicts in the United StatesWhen Crevecoeur wrote his speech he was only thinking of Scotch Irish French Dutch Germans and Sweds people He excluded the African and African American that were living there before them The European people forgot where they came from and they treaded the African people not as equal as them Thats how the The myth of the melting pot came to be In 1751 Benjamin Franklin easy said that America should increase their population to keep out the dark skin people Franklin say people without the same skin colour as him as a threated This myth has caused segregation denial of citizenship and constitutional rights to African Americans American Indians Chinese Japanese and Mexicans Till this present day people from other countries want to come to the USA for a better future They struggle to get here and once they do they are denied of many privileges America is made up of different races not only white people as Crevecoeur stated Other trips were in the USA before the European settled on it So when we say Americans its not the white people but instead is the African and Indians that were here before them
