Many people are trying to give the practice of drinking and driving a bad reputation One can listen to these discrediting groups such as the congress senate MADD and SADD To be honest I am surprised that the practitioners of drinking and driving have not yet formed their own type of coalition to combat these groups Actually I am very surprised especially in todays world where there is a committee or awareness group for almost any cause This is a time to educate everyone about everything they never wanted to be educated about in the first place Sure the drunk drivers could even give themselves one of those catchy names that are so popular They could call themselves DAAM an anagram for drunks against angry moms or DAMS for drunks against mad students or something comparable but why waste their lives I think people just fail to see just how rewarding drunk driving can be to the community at large It carries at least two or three appealing attributes that always seem to be briskly dismissed by these determined groups who are so passionately opposed to its practice The first benefit that comes to mind is that driving under the influence of alcohol forces every other driver on the road to pay more attention to the task at hand If the party that is driving under the influence is all over the road driving erratically and swerving between lanes it serves simply as a wake up call to those other drivers who may not have been paying as close attention as they should have been As a matter of fact the spontaneous driving of the intoxicated individual compels his or her fellow commuters to be more attentive while operating their own vehicles If a problem should arise in which someone collides with a drunk driver does that mean that it is the drunkards fault Or should the other person have been paying more attention
