Bridget's feedback:
"This is an interesting discussion of a rich subject, and you do a good job orienting each point around a single specific story to help focus the body of the essay. The thesis or purpose of the paper is a little hard to determine, however; consider bringing more focus to the introduction. Some exercises that help with this include finding and underlining the thesis and checking each sentence for suitability (sometimes certain details are better deployed in the body). I notice a number of errors (including typos) that impede clarity. A careful proofread should catch those. I also suggest streamlining the writing. There are some clusters of sentences that might function better as a single, more focused statement. Finally, make sure to establish your framework for the discussion on gender; is a source from 1960 most effective in building an argument?"
