When the World Trade Centre was hit on September 11 2001 when the United States waged war on Iraq in 2003 when the millions of people were killed discriminately killed during World War II all of these historical events were actions of terrorism Terrorism is the use of violence to pursue a political religious personal or ideological goal All of the three previously mentioned occurrences fit into this description And what good has come from this NothingTerrorism has plagued the 21st century as the bubonic plague had during the late middle ages It has consumed the world and will slowly break it down into pieces We are all affected by it one way or another The actions that take place during a terrorist attack are horrid and imaginable until you witness them yourself There are three perspectives of terrorism The first perspective is from the eyes of the person committing these actions the terrorist They fight for their rights they fight against discrimination they fight against injustice and then there are the few who have no choice and fight because they are told to fight to them killing is what they see as the easiest way to bring attention towards themselves to spread their message but is often overshadowed because they are not doing it the right way The second perspective is that of the victims the people who suffer directly from the violence They are left with the feelings of being unsafe experiences of instability and feelings of danger They suffer physically and psychologically The third perspective is of the public and the images of terrorism that have been implanted into their thoughts based of its portrayal by the media As a former member of the Canadian Peace Keepers I have witnessed terrorism first-hand It is not a pretty sight It is gruesome and can make it hard to sleep at night I have never been the same Once I retired I began to
