Jim's feedback:
"A colon breaks the flow of a sentence. So, you should use a comma in the first sentence, or set off the entire phrase with em dashes (long dashes, made with character code on a PC or shift-option-dash on a Mac). “Betwixt” is not incorrect, but the word is essentially unused in American English. The sentence in the second paragraph, “About the nature of others …,” is far too long and complicated, and it includes a comma splice (not the only one in this essay), i.e., the use of a comma to link what should be two sentences. Since “anger and grief” is a plural expression, it needs the plural verb “are.” The sentence, “And yet at the same time …,” has no subject. Single quotes should be used only inside of double quotes. Punctuation is placed inside quotation marks in American English. Your last sentence starts well but ends in confusion. Your good analysis needs to be expressed more clearly. Try to write concisely and directly. Run a grammar check to identify issues needing attention."
